This is definitely one of Animal Collective's best songs, and
unfortunately it cant be recreated by just a guitar, but
here is the skeleton of the song and you can try
adding in whatever instruments or sounds you like!


Intro:
I choose to play sixteenth notes on the D string
and strum the other parts of the chord in a
unpredictable fashion, and after each line of singing strum
the whole chord powerfully, but thats just my
way of playing it. Here's the chord you stay on the whole time.

If you play a harmonic on the 7th fret of the A string it sounds nice too.
Towards the end of the intro I like to start strumming the whole chord to the rhythm of

This song is actually pretty simple, its just E and A. Ive found it sounds
best when played with a capo at the 4th fret, which would make the E into 
a C shape and the A into an F shape.. hope thats not too confusing, I play 
it like this:

(All relative to capo at 4)

prototype banshee beat tab!  open d (capo 2nd)  the first four notes at the beginning go  a|-----0-------0-|  d|---------0------|  a|--0-------------|  d|----------------|  in the background there seems to be a guitar playing a G# note on the highest D string throughout the intro with another guitar droning an E chord (open strings). during the main bit it switches between A and G# with an E or B thrown in occasionally. for the drones in the background i think you can just strum back and forth between an A chord and an E chord.

i' m quite sure about banshee beat's tab since i was really close to avey at the aoustic gig in herk...but then i could be wrong. yet it's fun to play it like this!

The tab from the dude at the Herk set is spot on, but this is how to play it pretty accurately in standard. Seems like few people missed the F#m.
