i've been meaning to say something about this one. as far as i can tell, it's in open D (like winter's love: DADF#AD) and the verses are:
0 5 0 0 5 0
0 4 0 0 4 0
0 2 0 0 2 0
0 4 0 0 4 0
and repeat, just sliding that up and down. listen to the song for the rhythm. the chorus (oooh, i'm on a plain...) is stumping me. anybody?
*** ver 2 ***
I play it Capo 1st fret (standard tuning)
C Em Am Em C
and it sounds spot on
However, I'm completely lost on the chorus as well mate.
It MIGHT just be F then C but i can't be sure
*** ver 3 ***

ohh and the
chords are played differently for the cover. I wrote them out as nirvana played it.
At the first listen, it sounds like its Db - Ab - Bbminor - Ab over and over
or and easier way to think and play it is putting a capo on the 6th fret and playing G - D - Eminor - D..... (the D is the one im least sure of)

this sounds right (playing it the barre chord way) but its just not as deep sounding as the AC cover. i tuned it down 1 full step and it sounds pretty close but my guitar is just to bright sounding. anyway this cover is much easier than winters love which i have the hardest time with. that strumming pattern panda wrote for that one is unreal.
anyway, thanks for that. I'm terrible at chord recognition.

Well there are things you can do if you think the guitar sounds too bright. For instance, if you were playing this song as G - D - Eminor - D with a capo on the 6th fret, you could make those chords sound "deeper" by only playing on the lower strings.
you could play D as (2002xx) intead of the standard open form (xx0232). And G could be (320xxx) and Eminor (0220xx).
Not sure if you are doing that already, but i play it this way cuz of the deeper sound you get by only playing the lower strings.
